WSET Level 2 Award in Sake is suitable both for beginners and for those who already have a professional or general interest in sake. It is suitable wherever a good level of sake knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in the customer service and sales functions of hospitality, retailing and wholesaling industries.

WSET Level 2 Award in Sake Online

This course is also useful for those who have a general interest in sake and wish to broaden their knowledge. Successful candidates will be able to describe and compare the characteristics of the different styles of sake produced in Japan and give information on their methods of production. They will be able to interpret key sake labelling terms and give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service. They will understand the principles of sake tasting and evaluation.

The course prepares the student for our qualification and they are guided by a WSET educator. The student can contact the educator any time for the duration of the scheduled course, should they have any questions. Each module includes a series of independent activities to help students understand sake production and different styles of sake.

Digital Certificate and Badges


All exams and classes starting in 2025 will now utilize WSET's digital certificates. Please use the link in your welcome email to register for the certificate. Your certificate will be immediately available the moment your results are provided.

Cost and Dates


$595 per student | The course will be based around a 5-week, 7 module online learning program with course modules designed to be followed in order, but students are free to complete the modules at their own pace during this 5-week window. The course material should take about 15 hours in total to complete, plus revision time. Regular access and participation in the course online activities is essential for this mode of study.

The student can contact the WSET educator or staff@edu.wine any time for the duration of the scheduled course, should they have any questions. Each week includes a series of independent and/or group activities to help students understand the differences between grape varieties and types and styles of wine. All study materials are included in the online course.

Online attendees must be registered 10 days before the start dates listed below.

Custom online start dates may also be available upon request.

Exam Locations


We are often able to hold classes at your location with a ten student commitment. Exams are usually held at Intelligent Office located 1499 W 120th Ave, #110 Westminster CO 80234. Online Remote Invigilated Exams are available as an add-on but all exams are otherwise held in person. Please ensure you meet the requirements before signing up for the online exam.
