Wine Scholar Guild

WEI is tremendously excited to be partnered with the Wine Scholar Guild. The Wine Scholar Study and Certification programs provide current, accurate and in-depth information on the wines and wine regions of France, Italy and Spain. We are also teaching their new Italian Wine Scholar Prep Course, with dates available here.

Developed and administrated by the Wine Scholar Guild with the support of the respective Ministry of Agriculture, this specialization program  is designed for advanced students of wine, whether professionals or serious wine hobbyists. The Guild provides study & certification programs on the wines and wine regions of France, Italy and Spain. Originally created as the French Wine Society, the organization quickly became the leading provider of French wine study and certification programs internationally. In order to accommodate wine industry requests for equally detailed study programs on Italy and Spain, the French Wine Society reorganized as the Wine Scholar Guild (WSG).

WSG MEMBERS AND STUDENTS:

WSG members and graduates span the globe; running the gamut from wine industry professionals to serious wine hobbyists. They are life-long students of wine looking for in-depth, current wine knowledge and insider insights. They aspire to reach mastery within their areas of wine study.

WEI wine instructors are certified by WSG and join the faculty of internationally recognized experts in their fields including Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and wine writers.

How does this program complement other, more general wine study program?

The Wine Scholar Guild programs are a great resource and supplement for students of wine moving toward advanced general wine study programs such as WSET Diploma (level 4), Master of Wine, Court of Master Sommeliers’ Advanced Sommelier (level 3 and up) or Society of Wine Educator’s Certified Wine Educator (CWE).

Are there any pre-requisites to enter these programs?

While not a pre-requisite, we recommend that students have successfully completed, at a minimum, one of the following programs before enrolling in the Italian Wine Scholar program: WSET level 2, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) or Court of Master Sommelier’s Introductory Sommelier Certificate (Level 1).
