The Wine Education Institute Sommelier Certification marries the broad knowledge required with WSET or SWE with the restaurant service skills of a traditional sommelier. Exam will cover wine list creation and management; service standards for still and sparkling; food and wine pairing and service and storage protocols.
The Wine Education Institute’s Certified Sommelier program is only available to successful graduates of the WSET Level 2 Wine, WSET Level 2 Wine & Spirits or the Society of Wine Educators Certified Specialist of Wine programs. If you have not completed either of these you will not be able to take the Certified Sommelier Exam. Please acquire proof of completion of the above programs before registering for the exam.
You will be required to submit a video of yourself showing both your driver's license or passport as well as exhibiting your ability to perform bottle service to the "Casual" service level described in the web text. You may decide to do submit a video of yourself doing formal still and sparkling bottle service if you are considering continuing to the Certified Advanced Sommelier Certification.
You will have 6 months from the purchase date of the program to submit all required documentation, videos and complete the online exam. Exam re-takes may be purchased 2 months after the previous exam date for $25.
